Milestones and Boulders

Tonight it begins.  It's a monumental moment for my little boy; his whole life up to this point he has dreamed of playing sports (in general---he likes them ALL). Tonight is his VERY first soccer practice.  To say he is excited is an understatement.  He doesn't really know what to expect at this point, but my expectation is that after tonight, my life will never be the same.  I imagine that he'll talk about soccer incessantly...his whole life will be centered around the next soccer practice or game.  He will come home sweaty, exhausted (we live in hope), and STARVING.  My food budget will certainly bear the brunt of his new game.  : )  I, for one, can't wait to hear every detail of the practice.  Knowing Asher, I expect to hear about every one of his "new girlfriends" on the team.  (He currently has 7 girlfriends from school and church alone.)  My heart is raging with anticipation and excitement for him.  (I'll let you know if that changes after I've cleaned and fed him.)  I'm thrilled that he is confident, ready, excited---and doesn't care if he knows how to play yet.  He's not shy or worried who will be his friend.  His daddy will be there and will wear a new hat tonight: COACH; I have already accepted my new (proverbial) hat and am ready to wear my name with pride: Soccer Mom.  : )
